The third of the disciples was known as  Commander of the heavenly host. It was his job to guard the heavenly curtain. Whilst trying to capture Monkey who was once again upto no good, he accidentally broke the sacred Jade Vase that belonged to the Heavenly Queen mother. Fearing that this breakage would cause much sadness among the humans, the Emperor threw him out of heaven into the river of flowing sands, where he was bombarded with wooden spears once everyday to remind him of what the Emperor saw as a terrible crime. He became a water monster and called himself Sandy.
